بيت الأم والطفل — House of Mother & Child

The first window a child looks through is her mother’s arms.

The objects of the first year — bottles, sterilisers, the cot, the bath — chosen in Riyadh, carried across the Kingdom, for the thousand days that follow.

01Dawn · الفجر

الحضن

Everything begins
at five in the morning.

The room is still blue. A hand finds a hand; a bottle finds a mouth. We choose for this hour — the one nobody photographs, when the whole world is the size of a cot.

37°C, no light on — the first feed of the day

02Morning · الضحى

الضوء

Light learns
the shape of the room.

A mashrabiya cut by hand in Riyadh teaches a child that the day has a pattern. We borrow its patience for the things we put in the room.

03Afternoon · العصر

الأرض

The first steps
are not yours alone.

Sand at the door, dust in the wheels. A pram that cannot cross a Riyadh pavement in July is not a pram we will sell.

Pavement, 42°C — the pram test

04Night · الليل

النجوم

And then,
the stars take over.

A lullaby that is really a list: breath, weight, warmth. Nothing else is needed. Everything else is decoration.

Collection No. 01 — 2026

Objects for the
first thousand days.

Six categories, one rule: if we would not use it at three in the morning with our own child, it does not go in the shop.

Three of six categories. The rest — bath, travel, teething — live in the shop.

A cot under a mashrabiya window, Diriyah, 06:10. The light is the one thing in the room we did not have to choose.

The House — كيف نختار

We only keep
what survives
the third month.

  1. 01

    The test report comes first

Before we discuss a price, we ask for the certificate — SASO, GCC, EN 71 where it applies. If a supplier hesitates, we move on.

  2. 02

    Cleanable at eleven at night

If it cannot be wiped, soaked, or put in the dishwasher while you are half asleep, it does not come home with you.

  3. 03

    Quiet by design

No lullaby chip, no blinking lights, no forty-second jingle. A nursery at three in the morning has quite enough going on.

  4. 04

    Parts you can buy again

Teats, valves, lids, screws, the little plastic foot that always disappears. The pieces that wear out first are the ones we keep in stock.

From the notebook

“A house is only a house until someone small lives in it. Then it becomes a country — with weather, and borders, and a language only two people speak.”
